The One Who Fights For You and I

Psalm 2 and 3 have been amazing to read and study! We often hear preachers talk about the Psalms in beautiful words.  The way the poetry comes to life and draws us into the Scripture so that we can experience God in very intimate way is a blessing that is only experienced by those who have "taken refuge in Him" (Psalm 2:12).

Psalm 2: God laughs and mocks and consider it vanity for that which is wicked to conspire against God's people.  God has a King whom he has placed on his holy hill of Zion. God has told David that he is God's Son (implying divine annointing) and that God has made him to be king of His people. [Reference to Biblical theology here, the Son can refer to David and/or the Messiah.] God will subdue the nations and give them to David as his possessions. David, strengthened by God, will break and smash to pieces his enemies, like a potter and his clay. Thus, the warning is to the nations and all whom are against God. The plea is to kiss, make peace with God, the Son and take refuge in God.

Psalm 3: David, in fear, cries out to God. "My enemies are so many! They speak as if I have no salvation in You. But You are my shield God. You are my glory and strength. You lift my head from being drowned. I cry to you and you answer me from Your holy hill. I can lay down, sleep, and awake again because you are what sustains and preserves my life. I am not afraid of who surrounds me. Arise Lord! Save me God! You strike the cheek of my enemies and break their teeth (break...smash to pieces). Salvation, in contrast to what the wicked say, belongs to the Lord and is a blessing upon His people.

For those who are in Christ, you can confidently say that God is a warrior for your soul. He is a fighter for your life. God fights for the ones whom he loves.

Those who are in Christ are those who have kissed the Son. That through Christ and his atoning death and resurrection you have peace with God and He is your refuge.  Those who are in Christ are now clothed with Christ, so that their lives no longer reflect themselves, but is totally consumed and covered by God's salvation.  Those who are in Christ understand what true salvation is.  That we have been delivered from certain eternal death, as we rightly deserve because of sin.  Salvation belongs to the Lord, the Lord is Jesus; and Jesus, himself, is the blessing upon God's people.

But I have decided to offer a little prayer for everyone's encouragement:

"Because of you, God, it can be said "We have a protector!" In the midst of the numerous daily trials and struggles you are our shield.
     You are our strength.
You lift us from being consumed and overwhelmed. We cry out and surely you answer.
We can fully and completely rest because we know that you have covered us in your power.
You, God, fight for us and save us.
Even when we have been completely beaten down and defeated you fill us with your glory and   strength and raise our heads again.
You surely save us time and again.
You shame those who are against you in our salvation.
You will not let us lie under the weight of oppression forever.
You surely will raise us out of the depths.
May we be Christian brothers and sisters who call upon you for salvation together."
